- Rice terraces — The terraced fields of Mae Klang Luang, a Karen village on the slopes of Doi Inthanon.
- The old city — Wat Chedi Luang's great brick chedi, Wat Phra Singh and the quiet lanes inside the moat.
- Tha Phae Gate — The best-known gate of the old city wall, by the moat, where the Sunday Walking Street begins.

Doi Suthep or Doi Inthanon?
Doi Suthep is close, so it fits into one day with the temples of the old city, Doi Pui village or a café in Nimman. Doi Inthanon is a full day: about 2 hours each way, and much cooler at the top — bring a jacket in the cool season.
The old city
Inside the moat the old city's temples stand close together — Wat Chedi Luang's great brick chedi, Wat Phra Singh and many smaller ones — so several fit between the mountain and lunch. At every temple, cover your shoulders and knees, and take your shoes off before you go inside.
